Compelled by Love

BFBC is a 10-month missionary training program for those called to long-term service among the unreached. BFBC is designed to train for the challenges that missionaries face. The goal is not to produce perfect missionaries, but instead to have each student leave for the field with a growing relationship with Jesus and with the skills they’ll need to thrive on the mission field.

The first six months of training are held in Oklahoma City. Boot Camp offers classes to learn the basics of missionary methods, as well as hands-on experiences working daily with the poor, and refugee communities. The training is designed to address the common difficulties missionaries will encounter both emotionally and spiritually.

The last four months of BFBC take place at various locations around the world. During this “internship" phase, students will partner with missionaries engaged in expanding the Kingdom of God. Whether the student desires to work among Muslims, Hindus or Buddhists, starting Communities of Hope among the poor, the prostitutes, or children in crisis, they will be paired up with a relevant internship situation. This time is designed to help students put everything they’ve learned into practice — they’ll experience what it’s like to adjust to a new culture, learn a new language and build relationships with strangers.

Missions isn’t just about strategy. No amount of planning or preparation can equip you for every challenge you’ll face on the field. The only thing that will sustain you in long-term work among unreached people is intimacy with Jesus.

Missionary training at BFBC is designed to help students mature in their relationship with the One who has called them to go. Time to spend with God is included in the daily schedule, and students attend classes about hearing His voice, spiritual warfare and studying the Bible. Corporate prayer and worship times are held regularly, and Boot Campers are provided with several means of discipleship, both with peers and instructors.

Our desire is that students would finish their training ready to spend their lives for the unreached — not just because they know the right words or techniques, but because they have experienced the satisfaction of knowing and being known by the King.

Boot Camp classes include courses on cross-cultural ministry, church planting, language learning and contextualization of the gospel. These classes are intended to help students figure out how to use the things that they are skilled in and passionate about as part of a team, working together to most effectively communicate the message of Jesus to the people they go to.

Beautiful Feet Boot Camp is designed to give students a better understanding of who they are — fears, giftings, weaknesses and wounds. Regular challenges experienced in ministry and planned by the training staff give students opportunities to respond well to stressful situations on the field. BFBC staff is available to provide support and counsel in preparing future missionaries to successfully face emotional challenges.

Experiencing life together provides many opportunities for building deep relationships and the normal stress that comes from human interaction. Because the number one, non-health reason why missionaries return from the field prematurely is interpersonal conflict, Boot Campers are taught how to resolve conflict, how to relate to different personalities and how to love people who are difficult to get along with.

Many of the unreached live in physical conditions that are unfamiliar and uncomfortable to most Americans.  Poverty, cold weather, and crowded transportation are realities, and learning to adjust quickly in these kinds of environments is an important part of this pre-departure training. BFBC includes an element of physical training that is designed to teach the student endurance and teamwork, as well as help prepare them for life in difficult conditions.

Families with Children

When God calls parents to the mission field, He calls the whole family. Kids are important members of the team. When families come to BFBC for training, the children receive the same preparation as the parents, on a child-level, of course.  Our goal is to prepare future missionary kids not only to face the unique challenges of MK life, but to begin to anticipate with excitement the adventure to which God has called their family.

Costs and Dates

Expenses are kept as low as possible. Tuition is $350 a month per person. The course of study is a full 10 months. Classes begin the first Monday of July.

To be eligible for BFBC, you must have a high school diploma, the backing of your church body and the call of God on your life!

“While working among the unreached for the last two decades I have met missionaries from several different training programs.  And though I work with an different agency, those trained through Beautiful Feet’s Beautiful Feet Boot Camp are, hands down, the best prepared of all. If you are heading to the field this is the training you need.”
